Hong Kong - VersaLife

Leave the lift and walk up to the receptionist to the right. There is a datacube here. Also hack into the personal computer terminal and choose to create a temporary security pass. You can find another datacube by taking the stairs to the second floor and walking along to the right until you reach the computer terminals. The datacube is in the cubicle in the Southeast corner of the room. Use the stairs to get to the top floor of the building. If you meet Mr. Hundley (the man in a black suit) don’t give him any money. On the third floor find the computer terminal area and speak to the data entry worker who is sitting at one of the terminals. He will ask you to kill Hundley. There is also a datacube on his desk. Find Mr. Hundley and kill him as the worker asked. He is carrying 100 credits which you can salvage. If the alarm goes off you may have to deal with the security in the building. I will assume that you kill Mr. Hundley without anyone noticing and you will handle the security later, but if necessary do so now instead. Return to the worker and talk to him. Now go across the bridge to the North towards the lift. You will get 150 skill points as you cross it. Enter the code you just acquired into the keypad to open the doors. As you get on the lift you will be awarded a further 120 skill points. Press the button to go down.

Hong Kong - MJ12 Lab

After exiting the lift you will be greeted by supervisor Harrison. Go past the impressive hand sculpture and turn left.

Take the lift up and get to the room that the passage leads to. There is a nanokey and a datacube on the table. Use the security computer terminal to deactivate the cameras and open and unlock the doors. Return to the entrance hall with the sculpture and go through the door opposite you. At the top of the stairs go through the doors on the left. Break open the cabinet in this room (the guards won’t mind) and read the datacube inside. You can take 12 plasma rounds, a mini-crossbow (to give you 4 tranquilizer darts) and 4 flare darts. Find the conference room directly opposite this guard room and break open the cabinet here as well. There are 2 datacubes inside. The break room to the South contains one more datacube. Enter the rest room opposite and find the hatch which will open to reveal a ventilation duct. Crawl along the duct and you will get 50 skill points once you reach the top level. Along here there is a greasel which you should kill (make sure you approach it from behind, by using the branches in the duct!) At the end of this section of duct it will turn to the North. Ignore the first turning on the right, but go to the end of the ventilation duct ahead of you. You should now be able to stand again. On the right will be a ladder going down a hole in the floor. Descend this ladder and the next two all the way to the bottom level. There are two ducts leading out of this room, choose the one to the North and go through the grate. You will find yourself in a laboratory. Hack the nearby personal computer terminal and use it to ‘shut down magnetic chamber radiation’. Also choose to open the containment pods and the magnetic chamber door. You can now enter the secure area behind you and take the augmentation canisters. Only 2 augmentation canisters contain something which you have not already got. Use the nearby medical bot to install the vision enhancement and cloak augmentations from these canisters. Explore the rest of the lower level of the laboratories and you should find 2 datacubes on a bench to the North and 1 nanokey by an animal carcass. Go through the passage by this carcass and open the door at the end. Get the attention of the 2 grays inside so that they chase you out of their containment area. The security guards in the lab should kill them for you.

Leave the labs by going up the stairs. You can overhear Bob Page talking to Maggie Chow from here. Walk through the doors and along the corridor until you reach the troopers’ quarters on the right. There are some lockers by the beds on the upper level of this room. Two of the lockers contain 50 credits, giving you 100 credits in total (you must smash open the lockers). Get back to the corridor and continue in the same direction that you had been going. Get on the lift in the middle of the room that you reach and press the button to go up. Use the personal computer terminal to upload the nanotech blade ROM. You get 150 skill points for this. Go down the lift again. All the security personal will now try to kill you so basically you now have to kill them all instead. First make your way back past the guard room and into the laboratories. Once all the enemies from there have been eliminated you can use your nanokey to open the cell doors for the bum and the 2 greasels. Upon realising that you let them escape they should become friendly towards you. However immediately close the door to the greasels again before they can get out or else they will kill the innocent lab assistant. (Only one of them ever returns to a friendly state, the others remain hostile and should be killed). Now return to the room that you took the ROM from and go up the stairs. Check out the Level 2 access area as there may be an enemy along there. By this point you should have killed 2 women in black, 9 MJ12 troopers, 3 men in black, 3 scientists and 1 lab assistant. Go to the far end of the room that was straight ahead of you once you reached the top of the room where the ROM encoding was. You will find a staircase here which brings you out in front of the giant hand statue. You are awarded 50 skill points for going up the stairs.

Kill the MJ12 trooper and MJ12 commando in this room. It is possible to keep supervisor Harrison friendly towards you so you can keep him alive. Take the passage which leads to the lift where another man in black is and kill him. Along the other passage you will find 5 MJ12 troopers and 4 scientists to be killed. Once again only one lab assistant will stay friendly. Finally leave the lower section of the VersaLife building using the lift that you came down in.

Hong Kong - VersaLife

Speak to John Smith who is still at his desk. You will find that all the security personel in this part of VersaLife have also been alerted to your actions so you will have to deal with them too. Go back to the North side of the building and down the steps to the ground floor. Smash open the door to the security room and go inside killing all 3 VersaLife security guards there. Entering this room got you 50 skill points. The commotion should have got the attention of the remaining 2 VersaLife security guards and the receptionist. Kill them as well. You can now use 1800 skill points to upgrade your competence in lockpicking to trained. In this room is a clip weapon modification which should be used on your sniper rifle and 2 datacubes. If you visit the work area to the South of the lower level one data entry worker will start to fire at you. Kill her. Now leave the VersaLife building completely via the next lift.

Hong Kong - Market

Go to the temple to meet up with the Triad leaders. This will earn you 150 skill points. Now find Tracer Tong in the Luminous Path compound.

Tong will give you a code when you speak to him. Get back up to the market again.

You can find Max Chen and Gordon Quick by the bar and they will offer you drinks. Once you’ve got tired of their chatting leave the Lucky Money Club.

Enter the VersaLife building through the main door again (ignoring the advice of Tracer Tong to use the back way through Canal Road).

Kill the MJ12 commando who is guarding the door to the lift as you exit. A second MJ12 commando is likely to run towards you after you killed the first so take him out too. Make your way to the top level where there is the lift. Kill the next MJ12 commando guarding the lift and then go down it (using the same code as before).

Hong Kong - MJ12 Lab

In front of you by the statue there is some kind of a giant spider robot:

Get its attention so that it walks towards you and then hide from it behind a pillar. When it turns away from you, walk over to it and begin to slash it with the dragon’s tooth sword whilst using your combat strength augmentation. You can kill the spiderbot with only a few hits and taking only minimal loss of health and energy yourself. Take the passage to the right at the end of this room and kill the 3 MJ12 commandos in the armoury area. Go down the stairs beneath the hand statue and kill the next MJ12 commando. Kill the 2 MJ12 commandos guarding the entrance to the level 2 area. Now you are free to return to the laboratories where there were some medical bots that can replenish your health after the fight with the spiderbot. When you are ready proceed to the elevator for the level 2 section. Use the code that Tracer Tong gave you to go inside. You will get 100 skill points here. Go down in the lift.

Hong Kong - Nano Manufacturing

Go down the hatch in the floor that you come to and then through the hole in the wall in the lower corridor that you have just entered. You will find a datacube along here. Go back up to the top level again and now kill the MJ12 commando and the security bot that are just around the corner from you. Remember that you can always return to the medical bots to regain your health. For the bot you should use combat strength and take one hit at a time, retreating in between using speed enhancement. If you run out of energy you may need to return to Tracer Tong’s lab for his repair bot. To get near the bot in the first place you should make clever use of both the upper and lower passageways, realising that the latest code you got will open one passage whilst closing the other. At the far end of the passage where the bot was, on the upper level, hack the security computer terminal and make sure that the first door is unlocked and closed and that the cameras are turned off. At this stage you should now return to Tracer Tong’s lab to get your energy back to 100% if you didn’t just do that: get to the lift for level 2 and go up.

Finally return to where you were before. There are two hatches in the corners of the room. One of them goes nowhere. The other one is a duct which will give you 50 skill points if you follow it. You will find that this duct is totally dark, so the following should prove useful:

The dragon’s tooth sword emits a constant steady blue glow whenever you are wielding it. This can be used to light up your immediate surroundings without wasting other forms of light. Of course the glow is not very strong, but it will do for many situations.

At the far end you will find yourself in a hole in the ceiling by a security camera. Drop down from the hole when the MJ12 commando is below you so that he breaks your fall and then kill him and the scientist. Quickly enter the nearby room to the Southeast and press the robot maintenance switch on the wall. There are 2 datacubes for you in this room. Use the personal computer terminal just outside to upload the virus schematics and open the UC chamber. Here you get 50 skill points. Use the security computer terminal in the other room to open the nanotech containment pods and raise the cascade shutdown console as well as switch off all the cameras. Take the passage leading South and go down the ladder that will be on the left.

Walk to the central platform and pick up the augmentation canisters and augmentation upgrade (temporarily drop the dragon’s tooth sword). Go down the next ladder and you will find a medical bot at the bottom. Use it to install the aqualung augmentation canister and also upgrade the environmental resistance to level 2 with the augmentation upgrade canister. Drop the other augmentation canisters and collect the dragon’s tooth sword again. Maggie Chow should come to speak to you. After your conversation, kill her. Use the code you were given on the keypad to the East and then kill the 2 mini-spiderbots that are released (this is probably easiest if you run over to the ladder to the North and climb it first. Then when the bots are below you, jump down and slash them. You can regain your health from the medical bot but not the energy that they drain. It is possible to kill them without losing too much energy, for example I did it with 78% remaining. Don’t go across the walkway to the middle of the room, but slide down the slope after crouching under the barrier. Drop down one of the holes in the floor when the arcs have gone for a moment and land on the edge of the pipe below. Jump across to the pipe which has a ladder on it, avoiding landing in the water. Go down this pipe and swim through to the next opening. Take the 4 tranquilizer darts and 4 flare darts from the bottom of the pool. Swim through the next pipe and kill the baby karkian which is inside. At the end of the pipe is a motor which will propel you upwards. You should get 100 skill points here.

Climb out of the water at the edge and walk along to the hole in the wall where you can see a nanokey. Keep walking forwards.

Hong Kong - Waterways

Go through the pipe in the wall on the left and you will find yourself dropping down into the canal in the waterways again. Climb back out of the water and make you way over to the market.

Hong Kong - Market

Enter the Luminous Path compound and find Tracer Tong again.

Hong Kong - Tong’s Base

After speaking to Tong, recharge your health and energy using the bots. You can find Jaime Reyes in the medical area this time too. He will give you an augmentation upgrade canister when you talk to him, use it to upgrade your aqualung to level 2. Head back up to the courtyard.

Speak to Jock in the helicopter and head for New York.
