NYC - Hell’s Kitchen

Climb down the ladder and enter Paul’s apartment through the open window.

NYC - ‘Ton Hotel

There is nothing of interest in here so keep going through until you reach the hotel foyer. Kill the 2 riot cops and then take the nanokey and 50 credits from the reception. Hack the ATM machine and withdraw the 262 credits. Leave through the window again.

NYC - Hell’s Kitchen

Make sure the riot cops below are looking your way and then drop down to the ground. Kill the riot cop patrolling this alley. 2 UNATCO troopers will spawn and come running towards you at this point. Kill them. It seems as if they can see you even through walls because hiding from them doesn’t appear to work. Enter the Underworld Tavern through the rear entrance.

NYC - Underworld Tavern

Speak to Harley Filben to get 100 skill points and an extra objective. Speak to the soldier (Vinny) and say you would also like to ‘check it out’. This gets you another 100 skill points. Leave the tavern through the front entrance this time.

NYC - Hell’s Kitchen

Avoid the riot cops and the bot and make your way to the left and under one of the arches. One riot cop’s patrol route goes past this arch, so ambush him as he walks by. A further 2 UNATCO troopers will spawn to the North to hunt you down. There is also a standard (non-riot) cop whose patrol route goes past here, though he looks identical to the riot cops. Kill him too. The difference is that no UNATCO troopers will spawn this time. Go to the South by the park and you should find one more riot cop on patrol. This time the 2 UNATCO troopers will spawn to the East, kill them. Now enter the Free Clinic.

NYC - Free Clinic

You can use the medical bots in here if you have lost any health.. Find and speak to Joe Greene. Tell him you know he works for UNATCO. He should start running from you, kill him. Leave the clinic.

NYC - Hell’s Kitchen

Return to the Underworld Tavern.

NYC - Underworld Tavern

Speak to Harley Filben again to let him know that you did as he asked. Now exit the Tavern.

NYC - Hell’s Kitchen

Go down the manhole in the alley to enter the sewers.

NYC - New York Sewers

Kill the MJ12 trooper on the bridge. You get 60 skill points once you have crossed to the middle. Leave the sewers.

NYC - Hell’s Kitchen

Now kill the remaining 2 riot cops in front of the ‘Ton and the 4 UNATCO troopers that spawn as a result of their deaths, whilst avoiding the bot. To kill the security bot you should attack it when it is near an obstacle behind which you can immediately retreat and hide after striking the bot (for example the subway entrance). Keep stocking up on health from the medical bots in the Free Clinic whenever necessary. Once the enemies have been dealt with you should pay Smuggler a visit.

NYC - Smuggler’s Lair

20 skill points are awarded for entering Smuggler’s room. You may talk to Smuggler, but don’t buy anything from him. If you go upstairs you will discover that the mirror on the far wall has been replaced with a reinforced version that will not break if hit or shot at. Also, the keypad requires 5 multitools at your current level of ability! Not wanting to use those multitools you should hack into Smuggler’s computer terminal downstairs and look for possible codes hidden amongst the e-mails. Remembering that the required code had 3 digits, you should make a start by trying all the strings of 3 consecutive numbers that appear in any of his e-mails - forwards and backwards - as codes to the keypad by the mirror. Maybe you will get lucky 🙂 and find that one of them works. Of course you could always use brute force if you want, but that could get a little tedious! Once you have opened the secret area you will be able to collect some 20mm HE ammo and 12 Sabot rounds. You should now have the maximum possible amount of Sabot rounds and will no longer need to pick any up. Return topside to the streets.

NYC - Hell’s Kitchen

Head to the South and find the ruined remains of Osgood & Sons. Stanton Dowd should be hiding in that building somewhere. Find him and talk to him. This gets you 900 skill points. When the conversation is over, the suspicious thug who has been following you around lately will start to shoot at Dowd. As far as the game engine is concerned, this person is still not considered an enemy, but since he is attacking a person you are supposed to save it is reasonable to assume you should kill him. 10 MJ12 troopers have now spawned into the streets and they will continuously patrol around the map as a group until they find you. The best way to kill them is to try ambushing them near the Free Clinic, taking out one or two at a time before rushing into the clinic to stock up on health. When you return to the streets the others will most likely still be waiting for you so take care. Now find Smuggler again to get the required ammo.

NYC - Smuggler’s Lair

Despite already having all the rockets you need, buy the rockets Smuggler is offering for 2500 credits because you will gain 50 skill points from the transaction. Don’t bother buying the LAMs, you can collect these later. Warn Smuggler about the upcoming raid so that he has a chance to escape. Go back up to street level.

NYC - Hell’s Kitchen

Climb up the ladder on the side of the ‘Ton in the alley using the crate as a step and get to the top of the building where the helicopter is waiting for you. Board the helicopter and take off. You get an additional 100 skill points here, even if you don’t notice it being awarded since it happens right at the end of the level.
